Senggigi is the main tourist destination areas authorized in Lombok Island, Indonesia. Part of this whole area is famous for its beautiful beaches facing west. Senggigi region is formed by several different areas but all lie close together along the coastal strip. nightlife and great restaurants are in downtown Senggigi.

These are several places that you can find in Senggigi areas, are as follows:

  • Mangsit, Located in the northern part of the Senggigi, which owns the hotel that runs along a quiet beach with some traditional outrigger boat on a beautiful sand beach. Mangsit is the gateway to the northern region of dyke activity in the islands, Tanjung and Rinjani mountain. it has provided several resort options in this area and several other tourist activities, such as shopping and nightlife. Mangsit can be achieved very easily and quickly from the city center of Senggigi by minibus or taxi.
  • Kerandangan, Located in a quiet large bay in the northern part of the town of Senggigi directly with some villas in the valley behind the beach.
  • Senggigi (centre), Senggigi is different from what you find in Bali Senggigi is not typical as a tourist resort town, but here you can find quite a bar, billiard tables, TV screens with sports broadcasts, relaxing lounge area and restaurant on the beach side. many visitors use Senggigi as a temporary shelter and take a journey to the waterfall, Gili Islands, or go explore the villages which are still primitive, temples and forest habitats that can be found in just a few hours drive.
  • Batu Bolong, Located in the southern part of Senggigi and there are several bars, hotels, cafes and restaurants are spreading in this area. some karaoke bars and a large barn like nightclub located along the coast. if it during the day, taxi or minibus provide very quick access from Senggigi.

Lombok's tourism sector has had a difficult past decade and tourism activity in Senggigi went through a very subdued period with many developments halted and businesses closed. Recently things have been starting to improve again, with new villas and hotels going up and new shops and tourism ventures opening. Now, Senggigi is becoming increasingly popular with visitors seeking out the stunning scenery and unique culture and flavours of Lombok.

Things to Do

Most activities around Senggigi revolve around diving, snorkeling, and hiking. Senggigi has some surf shops in the town, but there are much better areas on Lombok for surfing such as kuta beach, not only surfing, you also can do some activities like a Scuba diving, Spear fishing and snorkelling, Sea kayaking, Bicycle rides Some of the hotels rent bicycles for riding around the Senggigi precinct, Forest trekking and Massage there are so many traditional therapeutic massages are provide by local sasak women both on the beaches, including Mangsit beach and at many of the hotels. It must be understood these are strictly traditional therapeutic massages provided by local Sasak practitioners.

How to get There

Senggigi is only about 15-20 minutes drive from the outskirts of the capital city of Mataram, Lombok International Airport (BIL) located near from the town of Praya on Jalan Raya Tanak Awu Central Lombok in the south and has a distance of about 40 km from the southern part of Mataram, and 55 km from south Senggigi, west Lombok.

By taxi

Officially the needs of passengers arriving at Lombok International Airport will be serviced by an airport taxi, which has been provided by the cooperative as well as taxi in Selaparang airport, Bluebird and Express is a metered Taxi  that you can use towards your destination. A metered taxi from the Bandara Internasional Lombok location to Senggigi cost will be approximately Rp 135,000-155,000. A taxi from the Mandalika Bus Terminal in Sweta on eastern outskirts of Mataram will be around Rp 60,000-65,000.

By airport bus

Lombok international airport, provided a public bus service for passengers who wish to travel to and from Mataram or Senggigi. There are 8 bus DAMRI air conditioned and has a capacity of about 40 passengers. DAMRI bus services depart from Senggigi at 03:00 and is listed as departing every 1.5 hours until the last departure from Senggigi at 20.00. DAMRI service also departs from the terminal Mandalika every hour and proceed to the airport, starting at 04:00 with the last bus leaving the terminal at 19:00

During the day, public minibus is available in the parking area in the way of Ampenan market, the cost to travel to Senggigi beach around Rp 5,000, plus an additional fee for each item of luggage carried. The minibus is also available for the trip to the west coast of the location in the north of the island, such as Bayan, Tanjung, and Pemenang areas that have a common terminal, terminal facility is quite simple and resembles a parking area rather than the terminal.
