Mayung Putek Waterfall is one of the others waterfalls located in Mount Rinjani National Park area. Precisely this waterfall located in the border district of North Lombok and East Lombok, is in Bilok Petung village, Sembalun district, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara province. This waterfall has a height of about 60 meters, in addition to quite high, this waterfall was very different from the other waterfalls, the water rushing down have white colours it contains sulfur because it comes directly from Mount Rinjani. So that it was believed to cure the various skin diseases.

The name of the waterfall itself is not separated from folklore who is said a long time ago in the waterfall location at a given time is often seen White Stag bathing or drinking. From there, The resident in that area called it Mayung Putek waterfall, Mayung Putek was taken from the Sasak languages means “White Stag”. This tourism area was perfect place to attend abuzz with relatives or friends. While enjoying the pounding water that falls to the earth, with the beautiful natural scenery and enjoy the cool waterfalls and healthy, But you will not find shops or stalls where people sell food and soft drinks in this area, so it is advisable to bring lunch from home or you can buy food before entering the waterfall. Moreover, there also has been no public bathrooms or mosque to worship because of its location was very natural and has not been known by the local or foreign travelers.

How To Get There

Mayung Putek Waterfall located approximately 173 km or with a travel time of approximately 4 hours drive from the city of Mataram. There are two alternative routes which is impassable roads through the city of Mataram, among others are:

  • The first route passes through the area with East Lombok: Mataram-Narmada-Mantang-Kopang-Terara-Sikur-Aikmel-Suwela-Sapit-Lemor-Sembalun Bumbung-Sembalun Lawang-Bira.

  • The second route passes through North Lombok: Mataram-Pusuk or along the Senggigi Beach-Pemenang-Tanjung-Gondang-Selengan-Batu Gembung-Senaru Village-Dasan Grisak-Sambek Elen village-Bira.

Upon arrival in Bilok Petung village, you will see a road with arrows labeled Mayung Putek waterfalls located on the roadside. Follow the road until arriving at the end of the road which later ended up in the parking area. Furthermore, from the parking lot, the trip will continued on foot for about 30 minutes through the trail down the stairs, past the hill and cross the river to arrive at the location of the waterfall area.
