Day 1
Trekking Route: Senaru - Pos I - Pos II - Pos III
Depart from Bato koq at about 8 am for senaru (altitude 600 meters). From there it's about 1.5 hours to the first Pos, Pos I (920 metres), then another two hours to Pos II (1850 meters). A further two hours brings you to the base camp at Pos III (2100 meters). The climbing is relatively easy going through dappled forest, with quite broken only by the occasional bird, animal, bell or woodchopper. At base camp pit our tent, our guide and porter collect wood and water here and if you have enough energy left, climb up to the clearing and watch the sun set. The ground is rock hard at base camp and it's very cold.
Day 2
Trekking Route: Pos III - Crater Rim - Segara Anak
Set off very early to arrive at the Crater rim for sunrise. It takes about two hours to reach Pelawangan I, on the rim of volcano (altitude 2600 meters). Mount Rinjani is covered by dense forest up to 2000 metres, but at around this height the vegetation changes from thick stands of mahogany and teak trees to the odd stand of pine. We will see monkeys, wild pigs; deer and the occasional snake inhabit the forest. From the crater rim, it takes up six hours to get down to the Segara Anak and around the hot spring. After setting up our camp at the lake, it's time to soak your weary body in the springs and recuperate.
Day 3
Trekking Route: Segara Anak - Crater Rim - Senaru- Next Destination
Start early to do hard climb bact to the crater rim before it gets to hot. Then it's all downhill to Senaru. It is a full day's walk, between eight and 10 hours, and we will arrive back in Batu Koq in the afternoon. We will bring you to your next destination. |
